Training
The HRS safety model begins on Day 1 with an orientation program focused on safety over all. We believe that a culture of safety must be initially understood by our team members followed by support through safety training, weekly meetings, risk analysis, and supervisor involvement.
Training programs provided by our local IBEW 1249 are scheduled as well as weekly training meetings headed by our field supervisors. Subjects include CPR and First Aid, Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Communication, Trenching and Excavation, Confined Space Entry, Traffic Control and Barricading, Grounding Methods, Safe Work Practices, Pole-Top Rescue, Material Handling, Lock Out/Tag Out and Energized Work Practices.
Employee Involvement
Job briefings are the basis of our daily on-the-ground field operations. Field supervisors use this opportunity to remind crews of the importance of identifying anticipated hazards/risks and mitigation procedures to be applied. Safety officer involvement and review at the job site complement the field crew plan.
The HRS field staff is empowered to innovate and improve our safety practices and policies based on the continual improvement process. Embracing this process means that all levels of our staff are encouraged to evaluate, make suggestions, and aid in improving our daily work operations. We learn from our diverse staff of IBEW trained linemen, from the extensive knowledge of our field supervisors, and from partners such as our local IBEW 1249.
